Parts

Materials: The Starter Motor, Piece 1 and Starter Motor, Piece 2 are the only plastic parts in this stage – all other parts are metal.

Assembling the Gear Box

The Gearbox
Stage 12.1

Fit the Bracket for Gearbox Oil Pan into the Gearbox Oil Pan as shown, and secure with two (2) AM screws.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Stage 12.2

Align the small post on the inside of the Gearbox Crankcase, Left Side, Piece 1 to the hole in the Bracket for Gearbox Oil Pan as shown, and secure with one (1) AM screw:

Align the Gearbox Crankcase, Left Side, Piece 2 with the Gearbox Crankcase, Right Side, Piece 2, and secure with two (2) AM screws:

Attach the tab of Gearbox Crankcase, Left Side, Piece 2 to the Gearbox Crankcase, Left Side, Piece 1 as shown, and secure with one (1) AM screw:

Attach the Gearbox Crankcase, Right Side, Piece 1 to this assembly, using two (2) AM screws, as shown:

Fit the Starter Motor, Piece 1 over the post of Starter Motor, Piece 2 and secure with one (1) AP screw.

Take note of this small tab and notch that need to be aligned to put these together flush:

MOMBe sure to have dry hands when attempting to tighten this screw, sweaty hands leads to a bit of frustration and catapulting parts to destinations unknown!  Or so I have heard!

Stage 12.7

Fit this starter assembly to the back of Gearbox Crankcase, Left Side, Piece 1, aligning the pin, and secure with two (2) CM screws:

Thoughts


MOM: Apart from the Starter Motor, Piece 1 and Starter Motor, Piece 2 protesting my sweaty hands and flying with a trajectory towards my trusty photographer, this stage was easy-peasy!
