Build
Left Rear Leaf Spring
Stage 38.1
Align the smallest hole of the Leaf Spring Shackle 1 (marked ‘1’) with this hole in the side of the Rear Reinforcement Plate, and secure it with one (1) AM screw.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Stage 38.2
Align the smallest hole of the Leaf Spring Shackle 2 (marked ‘2’) with this opposite hole of the Rear Reinforcement Plate, and secure it with one (1) more AM screw:
Stage 38.3
Insert the rear end of the Left Rear Leaf Spring between these two Shackles, and secure them all together with one (1) OM screw.
To determine the correct end of the Left Rear Leaf Spring to use here, note that this hole on top of the leaf spring is farther from the ‘rear’ end of it:
This OM screw should pass through Leaf Spring Shackle 1, then through the rear loop of the Left Rear Leaf Spring, and be driven into Leaf Spring Shackle 2, as shown:
Stage 38.4
Align the two holes of the Front Leaf Spring Mounting Bracket to the matching holes on the front of the Front Reinforcement Plate, and secure these together with two (2) OM screws.
This Front Leaf Spring Mounting Bracket can fit two ways, so make sure it is mounted as shown below:
Stage 38.5
Insert the front end of the Left Rear Leaf Spring between the two tabs of the Front Leaf Spring Mounting Bracket and secure it into place with one (1) OM screw.
This OM screw should be installed on the same side of the leaf spring as the previous OM screw:
Thoughts
This leaf spring assembly is incredibly accurate to the real thing! I love that it is all metal parts too. Keep this safe until we install it in Stage 40.
