Attaching the Roof

Stage 70.1

Retrieve your Body assembly from the previous stage and your Rear Window assembly from Stage 66. Fit the Rear Window into the matching opening at the rear of the Middle Section of the Body, aligning the holes in the tabs of the Rear Window over the locating pins as shown:

Fit the Roof down over the top of the Body assembly, as shown:

I needed to flex the forward end of the Roof a bit to get the posts at the front edge to seat down fully into the Middle Section of the Car Body, as shown:

Stage 70.3

While holding the Roof in place, turn the entire Body assembly over and secure the rear edge of the Roof to the Rear Section of the Body with six (6) LM screws, as shown.

When the car is upside down, I recommend placing it on a soft cloth. This is also your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Secure the front edge of the Roof to the Middle Section of the Body with two (2) more LM screws:

The inside edge has the posts along it:

Stage 70.6

Remove the protective film from the Double-Sided Tape on the Chrome Profile 1 for the Rear Left Quarter Window (68A), then fit it around the left side window opening, as shown.

Press the section where the Double-Sided Tape is to the Body to adhere it in place:

Secure the front end of this Chrome Profile 1 to the Middle Section of the Body with one (1) RM screw, as shown:

From the inside of the Body, secure the rear end of this  Chrome Profile 1 to the Middle Section using two (2) OP screws:

Secure the forward end of this  Chrome Profile 1 to the Middle Section using two (2) NP screws:

Stage 70.8

In a similar way, remove the protective film from the Double-Sided Tape on the Chrome Profile 1 for the Rear Right Quarter Window (69A), then fit it around the right side window opening, as shown.

As before, press the section where the Double-Sided Tape is to the Body to adhere it in place:

Secure the front end of this Chrome Profile 1 to the Middle Section of the Body with one (1) RM screw, as shown:

Stage 70.9

From the inside of the Body, secure the rear end of this  Chrome Profile 1 to the Middle Section using two (2) OP screws:

Secure the forward end of this  Chrome Profile 1 to the Middle Section using two (2) NP screws:

Stage 70.10

Retrieve your Windscreen Frame assembly from Stage 67 and remove the protective film from all of the Double-Sided Tape leaving the sticky layer behind:

Fit the pins of the Windscreen Frame into the matching holes around the Windscreen, as shown.

Gently press around the edges of this Windscreen Frame to adhere the Double-Sided Tape into place:

Thoughts

Not only did we receive the first exterior body panel with its shiny black paint, we installed all of the body windows and trim. This was a longer stage, but nothing too difficult. Looking good so far!
