Assembly Guide (Digital Version)
The Left Door Window (I)
Retrieve your Left Door assembly from Stage 83. Fit the Chrome Guide to the inner top edge of the Left Door, as shown.
Be gentle with this Chrome Guide as the upright pieces could be easily bent or broken:
Secure the Chrome Guide to the Left Door from the inside with four (4) CM screws.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Retrieve your Left Door Inner assembly from the previous stage. Fit the Chrome Deflector Trim to this location on the inside of the Left Door Inner, as shown. Secure it into place along the bottom edge with two (2) TP screws:
From the other side of this Left Door Inner assembly, further secure the Chrome Deflector Trim with two (2) more TP screws, as shown:
Insert the keyed post of the Deflector Knob into the matching recess of the Deflector Glass, as shown:
Make sure the ‘pin’ of the Deflector Knob is aligned to the long ‘pin’ of the Deflector Glass, like this:
Secure the Deflector Knob into place from the other side with one (1) SP screw:
Fit this Deflector Glass assembly into the inside of the matching opening of the Left Door Inner, sliding the Deflector Knob pin into the hole of the Chrome Deflector Trim and aligning the Deflector Glass pin into this notch, as shown:
Fit the Deflector Mount Bracket over this lower pin and secure it into place with one (1) DP screw, as shown:
With this final screw installed, we should be able to gently open and close the Deflector Glass:
While this door interior looks complete, we still have the windows, crank mechanism, trim and weatherstrips to install. I am surprised it takes six stages just to complete one door!
