Build
The Boot Hinges and Boot Lid
Stage 99.1
Slide a Washer, a Boot Lid Spring, and then another Washer onto the post of the Left Boot Hinge Reinforcement 1, as shown:
Stage 99.2
Retrieve your Left Hinge Boot Lid (marked ‘L’) from the previous stage and fit the eyelet over the end of the same post, as shown. Then, secure the entire assembly together with one (1) IM screw.
As you tighten this screw, it will compress the spring. The tighter the screw, the more resistance the Boot will have to opening/closing (I fully tightened it). This is also your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Stage 99.3
Retrieve your Body assembly and carefully turn it upside down on a soft cloth. Then, fit the Left Hinge Boot Lid assembly to this location just in front of the trunk opening on the left side of the car, aligning the two screw holes as shown:
Secure the Left Hinge Boot Lid assembly into place with two (2) AM screws:
Stage 99.4
Press the two pins of the Left Boot Hinge Reinforcement 2 into the matching holes on this side of the Left Hinge Boot Lid assembly, as shown:
Stages 99.5 – 99.6
In the same way as before, slide a Washer, a Boot Lid Spring, and then another Washer onto the post of the Right Boot Hinge Reinforcement 1. Then, retrieve your Right Hinge Boot Lid (marked ‘R’) from the previous stage and fit the eyelet over the end of the same post and secure the entire assembly together with one (1) IM screw:
Stage 99.7
Fit the Right Hinge Boot Lid assembly to this location just in front of the trunk opening on the right side of the car, aligning the two screw holes as shown:
Secure the Right Hinge Boot Lid assembly into place with two (2) AM screws:
Stage 99.8
Press the two pins of the Right Boot Hinge Reinforcement 2 into the matching holes on this side of the Right Hinge Boot Lid assembly:
Stage 99.9
Retrieve your Boot Lid from the previous stage and fit it to the two Boot Hinge assemblies, aligning the screw holes. Secure the Boot Lid to the hinges with four (4) AM screws, two on each side.
If these screw holes do not quite line up, try temporarily loosening the AM screws holding the Hinges to the Body:
Make sure you are able to open and close the Boot and adjust the hinges as needed:
Thoughts
With this Boot (Trunk) attached, we have another body panel installed and it looks fantastic! Keep the unused Boot Lock Housing nearby as we will need it in the next stage.
